We have all been there.

You are getting ready to make a delicious PB&J as a throwback to your school days or about to dip sliced apples into your jar of creamy Jif (since, let's be real, no one scoops out peanut butter for this unsanitary snack) and just as you stick your knife into the half filled jar, the sides of your hand hits the rim covered in left behind crusty peanut butter.

Peanut butter jars have been around forever... but honestly, did no one notice that peanut butter is a very sticky substance? It's no coincidence that dogs take forever licking it off of their roof of their mouth! And squeeze bottles don't do it for me since the components contain oil which separates, and I like to be able to stir it up when this happens.

The jars that contain peanut butter should be designed like a push up popsicles. You would be able to push up the inside from the bottom forcing the peanut butter up to the surface, not leaving any room for that devious peanut butter to jump onto the sides of your hand, allowing you to dip your sliced fruit in without having to fear of what will get stuck to your hand when you are unaware that peanut butter has made a home on your hand.

  1. Love these ideas Lauren! Would be really stoked to see what you could add to our some of our current OpenIDEO challenge. We're currently in our inspiration phase a challenge around bone marrow donation = http://bit.ly/f8ElGD

  3. I already thought of the idea. roughly 3 years ago. I have provisional patents as well as CAD drawings ready for production. Also made accomodations for the mess factor that would be left on the inside of the jar when pressed upward. Great idea just a little late.

  4. Hey thanks! Glad to see it at least in progress of coming to life. Every time I have an idea, I just post it on here. But I guess great minds think alike :)
